Emergence of community toilets as a public good: The sanitation work of Mahila Milan, NSDF and SPARC in India, 2016. SHARE.
This report summarises SHARE-supported sanitation work in India. It outlines how a sanitation strategy was developed, and the execution of multi-decadal projects that have resulted in a number of cities renewing their commitment to invest in city-wide sanitation.
Recently I visited a rural area of India. Most probably it was UP. I found a family there, they have a sanitary toilet at the left corner of the house. The house was round shaped with 5 different homes. The population was 16 person. But only few of them were using the toilet and others were happy to defecate in an open air. I was shocked and tried to guide them about the necessity of sanitary toilet but they still ignore me.
