The purpose of this Annual Program Statement (APS) is to disseminate information about the United States Agency for International Development(USAID) African Urban Poor Improved Water Supply and Sanitation Program (AUP-IWS) APS.

USAID anticipates awarding a maximum of three assistance instruments from applications submitted in response to this APS during the first initial round. It is anticipated that grants will be funded for amounts between $1,500,000 and $4,500,000 for the life of proposed projects.

    We are medical doctors who would like to provide affordable medical care to the poor in rural and urban areas but we cannot do it because we do not have money to buy land to build, establish and equip clinics.

I am an Indonesian women, who is interested in helping rural people to establish a community organisation and management for their water resources sustainability. I am the president of Rural Women Development and Environmental Organisation (RUWDEO) Cameroon, we have got communities that are in need of good drinking water but they can not have just because the way is not there. please how can we do to get our community project to you for funding.

  5. Am a project officer for Household water treatment and safe storage (HWTS) project working for Kenya water for Health Organization (KWAHO). I have read about the grant. I hereby inquire if you can support us an organization to uplift water and sanitation situation in Kenya urban slums.

The Institute of Water and Sanitation Development a non profit making organisation is seeking funding to upscale a Biosand filter project which will kickstart in January 2010 we got funding to initiate the project and train a few individuals in the community on Biosand filter construction, operation, installation and maintenance. However we feel there is need to upscale as this seems to be the most viable solution at the moment to the challenges we face in the water sector in Zimbabwe.

I am the Founder of RanX MedWaste Services in kenya offering services to management medical waste with slums in kenya to reduce enviroment contamination ( water and soil) throu proper treatment and disposal of medical waste.   8. am so glad that people all over the world are benefiting from such srevices.However,many more still need the help you people are offering.I feel proud of having been in touch with you..i know of a rural community in Uganda which will benefir fromsuch grants.The community has a primary school and a health facility.Water is scarec and the little water available is contaminated for its shared with animals…water borne disease burden is alarming!I wonder how you can assist them.

    This is good project. Please is there any way we can get our project to you in Okela, Ado-Ekiti back of Mary Immaculate. The place is used for excreta disposal and it is not safe for the people living in the environment. We need grant for sanitation and we will be happy if help could be gotten from you. I work as community developer and I also teach.
